β€œThe darkest hour comes before dawn.” This was my grandmother's favorite saying when I turned to her feeling defeated. Life’s challenges are real and can leave your emotions in turmoil. The Therapy Scholarship

Why We're Partnering

According to an African American Wellness Project study only 1 in 3 Black Americans who need mental health care receive it.
However, even those with partial insurance coverage expressed concerns about being able to afford to continue to experience mental health support.

Coupled with the financial barrier to seeking mental health support, BIPOC individuals have very few options when choosing a mental health provider who can embody their unique lived experiences. In fact, according to a study published by the American Psychological Association (APA) in 2020, less than 5% of mental-health providers were Black. Asian providers made up about 4%, as did Hispanic providers. As the APA points out, the racial breakdown of providers does not reflect the makeup of the U.S., which poses a problem.

The Sad Girls Club x Sol Health Grant will be a catalyst for communities of color who can't afford culturally aligned talk therapy.

In our digital age, I find leading with humanistic values to be more important than ever. I take an integrative approach, incorporating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as well as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy to use your values towards strengthening your daily life and relationships.

I pay attention not just to what you’re saying, but also to what might feel harder to name, helping you make sense of your experiences in a way that feels meaningful and true to you. I often work with young adults navigating identity, relationships, anxiety, and life transitions.

Christina Hollander

MHC Intern

I'm Christina and I specialize in supporting women as they work through low self-esteem, procrastination, dating challenges, goal-setting, codependency, and other behavioral addictions. I work side-by-side with clients in a relaxed, conversational way. My goal is simple: to help you feel more in control of your life and outlook. You never have to face the hard parts alone.

Tracey Dolina-Watkins

she/her
Social Work Intern

I fully believe we have to give ourselves grace while we grow. Healing and personal growth are not always linear, and therapy should feel like a safe space to explore challenges without judgment or pressure. I strive to create a supportive environment where you will feel encouraged, empowered, and more confident in navigating life’s ups and downs.
