Meaghan Janis

Collaborative
Down-to-earth
Empowering

Hi, I’m Meaghan, a graduate therapist and a Master of Social Work student at Columbia University! I believe engaging in the therapy process is a brave and exciting journey. My work as a therapist is deeply informed by my professional training and lived experiences. I aim to provide a comforting, safe space grounded in genuine empathy, where we can collaborate to help you meet your goals and explore anything meaningful to you.

My approach is grounded in the belief that people are the experts on their own lives and have the freedom to make choices that align with their values and beliefs. My core values include transparency, collaboration, empowerment, cultural competency, and autonomy. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Somatic Experiencing, and trauma-informed approaches, while understanding that every client deserves therapy to be tailored to their unique experiences and identities. I work with people navigating depression, anxiety, OCD, substance use, trauma, and relationships. I am also passionate about providing care for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Therapy can be hard work, but I believe there can be plenty of laughter, curiosity, and connection along the way, too. I look forward to working with you!
