Ms. Shabazz specializes in assisting individuals and couples of color who encounter depression, anxiety, maladaptive family dynamics, trauma, colorism, the effects of racism, cultural disparities, relationship challenges, and everyday difficulties

.Her objective is to impart or reconstruct positive communication and conflict resolution skills. She also employs evidence-based interventions such as solution-focused and cognitive behavioral techniques with an Afrocentric perspective. Ms. Shabazz employs a direct approach and fosters rapport-building to empower her clients to modify their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. She holds clients accountable to the goals and expectations they establish for themselves.

Throughout her career, Ms. Shabazz has worked in drug treatment for adults and adolescents. She has also been involved in juvenile detention settings, working to prevent young African American males from entering the school-to-prison pipeline. Additionally, she has collaborated closely with attorneys and other social workers to advocate for alternative incarceration options.

Ms. Shabazz holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the esteemed North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She subsequently obtained a Master of Social Work from The University of South Carolina. In 2020, she was licensed as a Clinical Social Worker. Furthermore, she serves as the CEO of her own private practice.
