Hi! My name is Kayla and I am a Mental Health Counseling Intern at Rutgers School of Health Professions. I received my B.S. in Psychology from Tulane University, where I also double majored in Gender and Sexuality Studies.

As a therapist, I see myself as someone who places a strong emphasis on comfort, connection, and reducing the intimidation of therapy. I strive to create a space where you will feel safe, accepted, and free from judgement. This space will include a focus on the convention of unconditional position regard and permission for you to guide our sessions based on your goals. Creating this safe space is my number one priority because I believe that people are not able to effectively explore, heal, or grow until they feel fully accepted.

As an LGBTQIA+ identifying woman, I enjoy working with individuals who are experiencing the lived realities of developing a sense of their authentic identity. As someone who has witnessed the first-hand effects of therapy myself, I know how important it is to have someone who genuinely cares about forming a connection and understanding you as a person through life and its unexpected happenings. I intend to enter sessions through a feminist lens with a focus on culturally competent care and welcome individuals from all backgrounds to enter this journey alongside me!
