My name is Sai (she/her) and I am pursuing a Master's in Social Work at Columbia University. I strongly believe in fostering a safe environment for clients to facilitate change by instilling confidence and drawing out their own capacity for growth. One of the key processes I value in a therapeutic setting is narrative-building. When I work with clients, I prioritize identifying events in their personal histories where we can collaborate to redirect focus from areas of disempowerment to moments of agency and choice. However, I am also conscious of structural barriers that may impact my clients’ readiness to embrace agency.

My approach includes awareness about systems that may impact my clients’ lives, such as racism, misogyny, homophobia and transphobia, and capitalist exploitation, in order to develop a shared understanding of their position in their world and their capacity to engage with it on their terms.
