My name is Gerard Sargent, and I am a second-year Clinical Mental Health Counseling student at Lehman College. I hold a BA in Economics and Media Studies from Hunter College and a Master’s in Urban Policy and Leadership. I have experience supporting clients with issues such as emotional intimacy, career development, and stress management, and I aim to create a safe, collaborative, and genuine space for growth. My background in career development, education, sports, and community engagement informs my practical, human approach—often using humor to put clients at ease—while helping them develop strategies aligned with their values and goals.
In my work, I draw from CBT, psychodynamic theory, person-centered and Adlerian approaches, mindfulness, narrative therapy, and motivational interviewing. I support clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, family dynamics, and self-esteem, always with a collaborative and strengths-based perspective.
