Catherine Burnett

Have you ever felt isolated or as though no one truly understands you? Or that your voice isn’t being heard? I’m here to remind you that you're not alone in facing these emotions. I’m Catherine - a therapist-in-training and Licensed Social Worker (LSW in NJ, LMSW in NY) currently completing my MSW at Rutgers University. I support individuals navigating trauma, identity, and belonging, with particular care for those impacted by early childhood trauma, transracial adoption, and cultural disconnection. As an international Chinese transracial adoptee, I bring both clinical insight and lived experience to our work - offering an affirming space where you don’t have to explain or shrink any part of who you are.

My approach is warm, relational, and rooted in trauma-informed care. You can expect a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where your full identity is honored. I draw from psychodynamic and CBT frameworks to help you explore your story, build emotional insight, and develop tools like grounding, mindfulness, and self-compassion. Together, we may examine past or present traumas, family dynamics, and identity experiences - all at a pace that feels right for you.

My goal is to help you feel more comfortable in your existence, equipped with the tools and inner clarity to navigate life’s complexities with resilience. You deserve to be seen and supported in your full identity, and I’d be honored to walk beside you on your healing journey.
