Hello, I'm Bibek Siwakoti Sherpa, a second-year Binghamton University MSW student. I'm dedicated to providing a secure and encouraging environment for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we'll work politely and thoughtfully at your own pace. I want you to feel heard, respected, and accepted because I know that beginning therapy can be frightening.
I identify as LGBTQ+ and come from a refugee family, which has shaped my viewpoints on identity, resilience, and the difficulties humans encounter. Since I understand how hard it is to feel accepted, I work hard to create a warm and encouraging environment. I value your opinions and approach our work with openness, compassion, and curiosity, and will walk with you at your own pace.
Evidence-based interventions like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and many more were taught in my training. In order to keep the client at the center of the work, I employ these strategies when they best suit their needs. Strategies that honor my clients' life experiences and strengths appeal to me the most. I prefer methods like Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and a Client-Centered perspective that emphasize relationships, resilience, and the potential for small changes to result in big changes.
