Bibek Sherpa

Hello, I'm Bibek Siwakoti Sherpa, a second-year Binghamton University MSW student. I'm excited to help people as a therapist-in-training at Sol Health. My objective is to become an LCSW and work as a therapist. I have worked with Vera House as an advocate for reducing domestic violence and sexual assault. Additionally, I have experience working with both individuals with and without intellectual disabilities.

I'm dedicated to providing a secure and encouraging environment for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences as a therapist-in-training. Together, we'll work politely and thoughtfully at your own pace. I want you to feel heard, respected, and accepted because I know that beginning therapy can be frightening. In order to give the best care possible, I'm learning under supervision as a therapist-in-training.

I'm LGBTQ+ and came from a refugee family. My viewpoint on identity, resilience, and the difficulties people encounter has been influenced by these experiences. Since I understand how hard it is to feel accepted, I work hard to create a warm and encouraging environment. As a therapist-in-training, I value your opinions and approach our work with openness, compassion, and curiosity. I also walk with you at your own pace.

Evidence-based interventions like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and many more were taught in my training. In order to keep the client at the center of the work, I employ these strategies when they best suit their needs. Strategies that honor my clients' life experiences and strengths appeal to me the most. I prefer methods like Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and a Client-Centered perspective that emphasize relationships, resilience, and the potential for small changes to result in big changes. Being LGBTQ+ and a refugee myself, I respect the diversity of identities and challenges that people encounter. I foster an atmosphere where clients feel free to be who they truly are because I understand that their stories matter and that they are not alone.
