She earned her Masters in Social Work from the Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare in 2008, and she is currently licensed in New York (LCSW), Rhode Island (LICSW), Oregon (LCSW), Washington (LICSW), and is pursuing licensure in other states. Beginning her career in NJ while earning a Masters in Counseling Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University, she has since acquired experience in every type of mental health or SUD treatment program, and she founded her private practice in 2020.
Laura’s primary focus over the last 15 years has been crisis work in psychiatric emergency rooms, with mobile crisis teams, providing disaster response/disruptive event management in the community, and teaching continuing education classes about risk assessment and psychiatric hospitalization. Laura has always been passionate about harm reduction, holistic care, and public health, but since becoming a mom, she found a new calling. In 2022, Laura founded a special education advocacy agency to help and support families seeking evaluation and services, and to deliver training and speaking engagements on topics related to neurodiversity, mental health, and meeting the needs of gifted and 2e individuals. Laura also provides IEP mandated counseling services to students in grades K-12. As a Scouting America leader for Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA troops, Laura serves as a trainer and consults on Special Needs Scouting.
Laura lives on Long Island, next to the beach and not too far out of the city, with her husband, their amazing son, and their two feline children, Dora and Luna.
