“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” - James Baldwin
If you desire a change in your life, I am committed to creating a safe space where your experiences are heard, understood, and embraced. With a compassionate approach, I am here to support you on your path to healing and self-discovery. Together, we will work together to navigate challenges, discover your strengths, overcome obstacles, and achieve a more fulfilling life.
With over 28 years of experience in education, my career began as a classroom teacher. After several years of developing young minds, I decided to become a school counselor as an opportunity to increase the number of students who I would be able to encounter and have a positive impact on their lives. I am currently a high school counselor working with a diverse population of young people who are navigating social media, increased anxiety, relationship and family issues, and a myriad of issues facing their generation. In this role, I have been trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Restorative Justice, Trauma Informed Practices, and Solution Focused Therapy. I am passionate about cultivating resilience and providing my clients with the tools and resources necessary for them to thrive and achieve their short and long-term goals.
I am currently a graduate student at the University of Buffalo in their Advanced Graduate Certificate for Mental Health Counseling. I also have two Masters Degrees in Education and School Counseling, both from Fordham University. On the undergraduate level, I double majored in Psychology and Black Studies. My theoretical orientation is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. I am looking forward to collaborating with you as we identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors, while developing healthy coping strategies.
